Retro Gamers Rejoice: Banjo-Kazooie's Successor is on Its Way!

Kids of the 90s, rejoice. The creative team behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 is working on a new game which is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie itself. In fact, it is basically Banjo-Threeie but with a chameleon and a bat instead of a bear whose pants get alarmingly tighter with each game he's in, and a smart-donkey bird.

The company behind the game, Playtonic, is filled with RareWare defectors who have been itching to create a game which captures the essence of the Nintendo 64 platforms of yore.

Just listening to the music at the beginning of the three minute trailer brings back a rush of nostalgia. Heck, the fact that the first footage of the game is actually gameplay instead of a CGI trailer is refreshingly old-school in it's own right.

In order to fund the project, Playtonic has set up a Kickstarter project. Those who pledge £5 ($8) or more will have their name appear in the credits, and those who pledge £30 ($47) will receive a deluxe version of the game, complete with soundtrack and retro manual.

Well, what are you waiting for? Get over there and donate the money they need!
