There really was nothing more sacred to a kid than weekends. Today we take a look at what a typical weekend for a kid in the late 90s was like.
Friday night you had some friends over for a sleepover in which you spent hours playing Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, and Mario Party...
...and there was always that douche friend who played as Oddjob
Or if you were a girl who wasn't all that into video games, you may have been playing Mall Madness and/or Dream Phone.
Either way, whether you were a boy or a girl you probably ended up using *67 to block your number and call your crush only to forget how to talk when they answer.
Of course you had to have some snackage to fuel the late-night fun...
...with some liquid refreshments to wash them down with.
Even though you and your friends stayed up late, you were sure to wake up early enough to catch some of the highest quality Saturday Morning cartoons the world has ever known...
...while enjoying a highly nutritious breakfast.
After your friends went home, you probably had some chores to do...like mowing the lawn.
Or maybe you didn't have chores so you had your mom drop you and your friends off at the pool.
When you were done swimming you used the nearest payphone to make a collect call to your mom to come pick you up...
...and if she didn't pick up you could always try paging her.
For lunch you had some tasty Character Mac and Cheese...some how it tasted better than the regular stuff.
Then your mom or dad dragged you with them to run errands despite the fact that you made it perfectly clear that you did not want to go.
Never one to be unprepared, you brought your Game Boy Pocket or, if you were lucky, your Game Boy Color to get some Pokémon training in on the way to the store.
You begged your parents to stop somewhere to get you a booster pack of Pokémon cards so you could maybe, finally get that elusive Charizard.
At the checkout stand you coerced your mom or dad into buying you a Pushpop.
After getting home, you connected to the internet and check out nickelodeon.com, keyword Nick...
...unless you didn't have internet in which case you settled for some good old fashioned Mine Sweeper.
For dinner you had the pleasure of going to your local Pizza Hut to sit down and enjoy some fin dining.
That night you watched Saturday Night Live. Maybe it wasn't as funny as the early 90s, but it still had its moments.
Or maybe you watched some Snick
Sundays were usually pretty lazy...
The most exciting part of Sunday was the new episode of The Simpsons...the best part was 9 out 10 episodes were still hilarious in the late 90s.
When you got to school the next morning, depression set in because you knew you were five agonizingly long days away from the next weekend.
